Italian
bobsleigh brakeman William Frullani and an unnamed German biathlete have failed
drugs tests at the Sochi Winter Olympics.
Police officer Frullani, a former international decathlete, will be replaced in Saturday's four-man event by Samuele Romanini.
The 34-year-old tested positive for dimethylpentylamine, found in dietary supplements, and failed a second test.
Increased testing
Sochi 2014 has the "most stringent anti-doping programme" seen at a Winter Olympics, with 2,453 tests, according to the International Olympic Committee before the Games.
The German biathlete is still awaiting the results of
their B sample.
"The results of the B sample and the hearing before the IOC Disciplinary Commission are scheduled for this Friday," a German Olympic Sports Confederation statement read.
"Thereafter, the chef de mission will report on the status of the process."
On Frullani, Italian Olympic Committee said: "The athlete requested that the B sample be tested and that was confirmed as positive, leading to his exclusion from the Italian delegation."

European Championships as a decathlete
Before the Games, Russian biathlete Irina Starykh, who was a medal hope for the hosts, withdrew after failing a drugs test.
Germany have been the third most successful team in Russia, with eight gold medals, four silvers and four bronzes. Italy are 21st with two silvers
